MRS Les Tilleuls, Brussels

The CPAS of Saint-Gilles commissioned Altiplan to carry out a project to bring the ‘Résidence Les Tilleuls’ nursing and care home into compliance with regulations, renovate and extend it by reorganising the connection to the existing assisted living facility and integrating a social reception centre into the existing building.

The project also includes landscaping the surrounding area and creating a public passageway connecting Rue Arthur Diderich to Avenue Ducpétiaux via a pedestrian walkway through the garden of the neighbouring property.
The resthome had to remain operational throughout the duration of the project. A phased approach was developed in order to maintain all of the nursing home’s activities on site. The organisation of the project and its logistics were designed with this constraint in mind.

This project is therefore a fine example of a major renovation in an occupied site and in a dense urban context.
