NBB1 Building, Brussels

Mecanoo & Altiplan° architects worked with the team of consultants to develop an innovative and clear plan based on the BNB’s wishes and needs, their core values and their ambitions for the renovation and extension of a remarkable building in a unique location in the centre of Brussels. We based our approach on Mecanoo’s design philosophy of “People, Place, Purpose”. The design is always people-centred, the building integrates optimally with its location, and the functional design takes innovation and future changes into account. Great attention was paid to sustainability, circularity and a healthy working environment. The end result was a project that stimulates all the senses and offers optimal added value for the site, employees and visitors to the National Bank of Belgium.
