The new Chagall-Gaudi pavilion project is located in the heart of the Mons Psychiatric Hospital grounds and reimagines mental health care in a peaceful setting surrounded by nature. The project adopts an organic Y-shape with rounded corners to create bright, easy-to-navigate spaces without any anxiety-inducing corners.
Its two buildings — Hospitality and Medical — are designed to offer fluid pathways, effective monitoring and a wide variety of environments adapted to patients’ needs.
– The generously sized Chagall and Gaudi gardens extend the living spaces outdoors and create genuine therapeutic areas.
– The shared areas are wide open, bathed in natural light and organised according to different levels of stimulation to promote well-being.
– The rooms — single, PRM, secure or rooming-in — are designed for comfort, privacy and safety.
– The design emphasises sustainability: compact volume, green roofs, reuse of materials, optimised water management and high energy performance.
– The post-and-beam structure ensures flexibility and scalability, allowing the building to adapt to future needs.
