The Labo Olivier project, located in Huy, consists of the construction of an income-generating building integrated into a dense urban fabric, between the city center and the train station district. The building is situated along the main avenue leading to the railway station of the Mosan city.
The major challenge of the project lies in the placement of a new volume between two contrasting scales: on one side, a low and period-style mansion; on the other, a 1960s apartment building, taller and of low-quality aesthetics. The projected volumetry addresses this constraint by introducing a pronounced vertical element on the front facade, allowing both the creation of an interior-exterior visual relationship and the maximization of the number of rooms on a relatively narrow plot.
The ground floor houses a blood collection center. On the upper floors, several levels of apartments are arranged, with living rooms facing the inner courtyard, fully south-facing, thus offering excellent natural light comfort.
The top floor hosts a larger penthouse, featuring a spacious living room and the capacity for three bedrooms.
All the apartments have a large balcony, promoting enjoyable use of the outdoor spaces during the summer season.
